Welcome to the new SequenceJS.com. Sequence.js has been in development for almost 18 months and finally, we have a decent website to host it on, along with many other goodies too!

What is Sequence.js?

Sequence.js is an open-source jQuery slider plugin with a big difference — infinite style possibilities. Not only do you get to create your own Sequence theme layout, you choose how each slide transitions from one to the next. Sequence’s slides are actually referred to as frames because they can do far more than just slide.

Using HTML and CSS3, you can layout and create your very own unique Sequence theme — no two themes need ever be the same and no JavaScript or jQuery knowledge is required.

Just take a look at some of the pre-built themes to see how each instance of Sequence is completely unique.

What’s more, Sequence.js has been built for the modern web. As themes are built using just HTML and CSS3 (whilst Sequence.js deals with the functionality in the background), they also support responsive design, along with touch support, hash tags and many more features you’d expect.

Despite Sequence themes being built using CSS3, older browsers such as Internet Explorer 7, 8 and 9 are supported too. Sequence.js will automatically detect when a browser doesn’t have support for CSS3 transitions and gracefully fallback to a traditional right-to-left slider theme instead — your content will still be layed out exactly as in modern browsers, the transitions will be just a little less fancy.

Sequence Themes

Not only will the new SequenceJS.com host Sequence.js itself — along with it’s documentation and this blog where we’ll post many tips, tricks and updates regarding its use — you’ll also find pre-built themes. Some of these themes free, other premium, of which will help support the future development of Sequence.

As Sequence themes are created using HTML and CSS3, they can be easily implemented into your own website, as well as modified to appear and behave exactly as you like. Did we mention Sequence themes support responsive design too?

The Future of Sequence

We have a lot planned for Sequence, both Sequence.js and the site itself. Firstly, on the site we’ll be adding many more pre-built themes as time goes on, as well as posting tutorials, tips and tricks on the blog.

Sequence.js will continue to be improved with many new feature requests already in the issue tracker over on GitHub. If you have your own ideas or have found a bug, please join us on GitHub or get in touch via the contact form.

We’re also aiming to build a Sequence plugin for WordPress which will allow you to easily install Sequence into a WordPress website. This will eventually become a fully feature interface where you can drag and drop elements into the places you (or your clients) like — removing the need for even having HTML and CSS knowledge.

Support Sequence

During the past year that Sequence.js has been available as a beta, we’ve had many generous folks offering donations to help with the development of Sequence. At SequenceJS.com, we’re not too keen on the idea of receiving something for nothing but of course, time spent developing comes at a cost.

If you would like to show your support financially, and help us achieve our vision of The Future of Sequence, we’d love it if you’d consider purchasing a license for a pre-built Sequence theme, or two! Whether you’d like to use the pre-built theme yourself, give the license to a friend or just have the theme for safe keeping, we’re very grateful for your support.

Alternatively, as Sequence.js is open source, you could contribute your ideas, code and so on, instead.

Feedback

We’d love to hear your feedback regarding the new SequenceJS.com as well as Sequence.js. Leave a comment below, tweet/follow @IanLunn on twitter or reach us on the contact form.

Thanks for stopping by, and have 50% off your first Sequence theme on us! Just use the coupon code YAYSEQUENCE (before March 1st 2013).
